How the TelemetryOS Companion apps handle your data
Effective Date: August 14, 2026
TelemetryApp Services Inc., DBA TelemetryOS ("us", "we", or "our") provides the TelemetryOS Companion applications for Android, iOS and macOS (the "Apps"). This notice explains what the Apps collect, why, and what choices you have.
This notice covers the Apps specifically. Our Privacy Policy covers the telemetryos.com website and the TelemetryOS Studio management portal, and applies to the Apps as well except where this notice describes something different. Terms defined in the Privacy Policy have the same meaning here.
The Apps are tools for existing TelemetryOS customers to manage networks of digital signage devices. A TelemetryOS account is required, and the Apps are not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18.
When you sign in, the Apps send your email address and your TelemetryOS account and user identifiers to our servers. We use these to authenticate you and to determine which devices, organizations and media you are allowed to see. This information goes only to TelemetryOS.
The Apps let you upload files into your TelemetryOS media library. The file picker is not restricted to images and video — you can select any type of file, and its contents are transmitted to and stored on our servers as part of your library. Please only upload files you intend to store in your TelemetryOS account. If your role includes media access, you can preview, rename, move, download, share and delete these files from within the Apps at any time; deleting a file removes it from our servers.
When you pair a device, whether by scanning its QR code or by typing its pairing code, the Apps send that code to our servers to associate the device with your account and organization. We use it to add the device to your fleet so you can manage and monitor it.
If you choose to enable notifications, the Apps obtain a device-specific messaging token from the platform's notification service and register it with our servers, along with the app version and the TelemetryOS environment you are signed in to. We use this token for one purpose: to route notifications about your devices to your device.
On Android, notification delivery is handled by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging acting as our processor, so the token and the message routing pass through Google's systems. Google's privacy information is at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy and https://policies.google.com/privacy. On iOS and macOS, delivery is handled by Apple Push Notification service, which is part of the operating system; the token is not shared with any third party other than Apple.
The token is stored on your device and on our servers only while notifications are enabled. When you turn notifications off or sign out, the Apps remove the token from your device and ask our servers to delete it. If that request does not reach us, a routine server-side cleanup removes the token the next time we check that device's status.
The Apps contain no analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting components, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. No usage data is collected for advertising or measurement purposes.
The Apps do not collect your location, contacts, calendar, messages, audio, health data, financial information, browsing history or search history, and they do not request the permissions that would allow it.
Diagnostic logs are written to your device's own system log to help with troubleshooting on the device. They are not transmitted to us.
The Apps ask for camera access for one purpose: to read a QR code when you pair a new device. The camera preview is processed on your device to decode the pairing code, and the images are not saved, transmitted or shared.
Camera access is optional. If you prefer not to grant it, you can pair a device by entering its pairing code manually instead. You can revoke camera access at any time in your device's system settings.
Notifications are off by default and you choose whether to enable them. They tell you about the status of devices in your account — for example when a device goes offline, shows no screen, or fails to play content. They contain operational information about your devices and never marketing.
You can turn them off at any time in the Apps' settings or in your device's system settings.
The Apps let you view screenshots of what your managed devices are currently displaying. These images are captured by the devices themselves and held briefly on our servers so you can check device status, as described in our Privacy Policy. The Apps display them; they do not create them.
All communication between the Apps and our servers uses HTTPS. Information collected through the Apps is stored and processed by TelemetryOS in Canada, as described in the Transfer of Data section of our Privacy Policy. Content you upload may be delivered through a content delivery network with servers in other countries, so that it loads quickly on your devices.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, as described in the Service Providers section of our Privacy Policy, and with the notification delivery service named above.
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and user identifiers | While your account is active |
| Files you upload | Until you delete them, or your account is closed |
| Push notification token | While notifications are enabled. Deleted when you disable them or sign out, or by routine server-side cleanup if that request does not reach us |
| Device pairing codes | Not retained — a pairing code can be used only once and is deleted when the device is paired |
| Diagnostic logs | Remain on your device; not retained by us |
Deleted content does not remain in our systems or backups for more than two months.
You can review and delete much of your information yourself — media in the Apps or in TelemetryOS Studio, and your name and email address in Studio under Settings → Account. The Apps display your account details but cannot change them.
To delete your account and the personal data associated with it, see Delete your account and data.
The rights described in the Your Data Protection Rights section of our Privacy Policy — including access, correction, objection, restriction, portability and withdrawal of consent — apply to information collected through the Apps.
We may update this notice from time to time. We will post the updated notice on this page and change the Effective Date above. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will give notice as described in our Privacy Policy.
Questions about this notice can be sent through the support chat in the TelemetryOS Studio management portal, or by email to support@telemetryos.com.
